I don’t know you in the slightest, but I’m sitting here drawing in my cubicle when I should be working. I just wanted to say that I like your drawings, and good luck tonight. I just got the Domy email stating that you’re having your ultimate coming out art party. Be sure to wear your matching set of undies and bra. All art debutantes know it’s a must. I guess. I’m just going with it.

Dear melinda,
as crazy as it may sound, it almost seams that your comics are very accurate depictions of a relationship i had a year ago. its scary cuz your cartoon depiction of yourself looks kinda like her. i just found your comic today, and i havent quite stopped crying yet. just wanted to say, you’ve done a great job at this, and keep up the good work!

When I read this last night, Aaron and I immediately remembered “Oh yeah! Toy Joy!”. We’ve gotten suggestions to go there before, but you reminded us, so…..we went! It was SO cool! Thanks so much for the suggestion, and I will have to try Momokos, because I do love me some good bubble tea.

Hi!
I found one of your drawings on tumblr and immediately became a fan of your journal. It made me do a few of my own and theyre really great fun exercises. I live in San Antonio, Texas but my sisters live in Austin. We go back and forth a lot. If you haven’t already been, I have to say the two places (since we were tiny kids) we’ve never missed going to are TOY JOY and MOMOKOS BUBBLE TEA. If you haven’t already been to either of these places you really should. I never get tired of going to either one. Momokos is the original Austin Bubble Tea Shop. They have the most AMAZING Rice Balls and sell lots of cute Japanese things. Try the Peach Spice bubble tea. Its my favorite. Just thought I’d let you know. Lemme know how you like it. I think we’ll be in town later this month to catch Joanna Newsom at the Paramount Theater and will of course, stop at both of these places. Cheers!

Wow…thanks so much Serena. That’s really nice to hear. I really appreciate the promotion, and i’m sorry about the books not being in stock! Once i’m not flat broke I hope to reprint “Okay?, Okay!”, although I’m not sure if “Scarface” will make the cut. Seriously though, thanks for the encouraging words…they mean a lot.

I just wanted to say I love your work. I wish I could donate some money to you, because I totally know how you feel. I am struggling art student, and I know once I get my degree it will still be impossible to get an income. I post your stuff on my tumblr sometimes and link to your website to try and spread the word about you. My birthday is in a couple of months so maybe if I am good, someone will buy me one of your books (although the ones I like are out of stock right now!) I hope your holidays are nice!
